We provide food microbiological testing through outsourcing to reputable, adequately accredited laboratories. We are contracted to 6 reputable testing laboratories in South Africa that have remote branches across the country, making it easy for us to extend our services countrywide. Food samples are submitted to the food testing laboratory daily for analysis.

We also test for a wide range of food poisoning organisms including:

  • Clostridium Perfringens

We also test water samples according to SANS 241.

SANS 241 specifies the quality of acceptable drinking water, defined in terms of microbiological, physical, aesthetic and chemical determinants.

We assist our clients with factory environmental hygiene sampling services, whereby your production facility and final products can be screened on a regular basis.

Swabbing – Surface Hygiene: we can help with food factory hygiene by testing swabs which are used to monitor the effectiveness of the food factory cleaning program. Testing includes Total Viable Count, Enterobacteriaceae, Coliform count, E. coli count, Yeast & Mould, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella.

Swabbing – Hand Hygiene: swabbing can also be used to monitor hand hygiene which with hand washing awareness is part of food factory hygiene. Testing would normally include Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli.

Listeria Swabbing: testing for Listeria is part of quality assurance throughout food manufacture and is monitored by the factory quality control department. Part of the monitoring is swabbing. Having a good Listeria Environmental Swabbing program is an important part of Listeria control in your food manufacturing environment as Listeria is often a post process contaminant.


We also distribute a wide range of inhouse hygiene and quality test kits to assist our customers in ensuring compliance daily, over and above the weekly/monthly testing services we provide to them.

We have partnered with a very reputable and well-established testing and food safety agency to offer the following services:

  • solutions for start-up laboratories including start-up cost analysis, laboratory lay-out and design, development implementation of a management system in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO 15189 and additional accreditation requirements.
  • Document and process review of existing laboratory management system to ensure a more effective and holistic view of stipulated requirements.
  • Root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions on non-conforming testing.
  • Method development: Validation and implementation of current and new test methods.
  • Continuous Quality assurance.

GAP Audit: Pre-certification or readiness audits in compliance with R638 of 2018 (replaces R962 of 2012), GFSI, SANS 10330, SANS 10049, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC and/or ISO 9001.
